It is now two years in counting into the pandemic and the general population has seen its horrific impact. The contagion has also mutated rapidly. From Delta to Omicron, the variant of COVID-19 changed from time to time. The highly contagious Delta and Omicron variants required new and better “mask hygiene.”
One must continue to protect the members of the community, whether it’s a small child or an elderly person. There must be an ample supply of disposable face masks and supply. The face masks need to have better filtering and fitting. One needs to find a good fit for his face to protect himself from the pandemic. The mask should not be loose around the cheeks and nose. Here are some tips for better use of face masks –
Focus on snug (comfortable) fit face masks

The US Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has conducted experiments to see the effectiveness of three-ply and other layered masks against COVID-19. It is found that the masks reduce the exposure of pathogens by 85% in laboratory simulations.
A well-fitting and properly worn mask can prevent the individual and the others from being exposed to COVID-19. Fit and filtration are the keys to a good face mask. The mask should have –
- 2-3 layers of masks.
- Made of tightly woven fabrics.
- Should be breathable.
- Snug (comfortable) fitting without gaps around the face and nose.
- It should allow air to escape the edges.
Wearing a mask with at least two layers is very much important to keep yourself safe from the ongoing pandemic. The snug fit of the mask keeps you safe and comfy all the time. In the case of adult males, try to trim your facial hair or shave which gives a comfy fit and keeps the mask close to your face.
