What Does Wellness Mean to You?

The term wellness is defined as “the state of being in good health due to a disciplined lifestyle and active goal persuasion.” With a person’s focus on a holistic and natural approach, self-healing, and preventive care, these perspectives are standing as a firm foundation for wellness. 

Physicians and social thinkers have informed the general masses that healthy living, self-help, and discipline keep your body and mind healthy. It is an active process of being aware of your surroundings and making choices that lead to good well-being and health. The term “wellness” is multidimensional and it is more than just physical health.

  • Emotional – Freedom of expressing your emotions and understanding other feelings.
  • Physical – Nourishing a healthy body. Exercising discipline at the time of pandemic such as the use of disposable face masks and maintaining social distancing. 
  • Social – Connecting and engaging communication with others.
  • Spiritualism – Searching for a higher purpose of human existence. 
  • Environmental – Fostering a positive relationship with planetary health and human choices. 

Wellness is a state of mind which is generally different for everyone. The wellness model appears to interconnect with all the characteristics. 

Wellness defines attitudes and lifestyles are geared towards preventing disease, improving health, and enhancing their quality of life and sense of well-being. 

A healthy lifestyle is proactive, preventive, and driven by self-responsibility. As a result, wellness is expanding as a consumer value and lifestyle.

The use of workplace wellness programs has been hailed as a powerful tool for making employees healthier and more productive while reducing health care costs. Workplace wellness solutions reduce stress and churn out the employees more productive. 

In contrast to those working at sites without a wellness program, employees at workplaces offering wellness programs were 8.3 percentage points more likely to report regularly exercising and 13.6 percentage points more likely to report actively managing their weight.

Keeping yourself physically fit by maintaining such disciplines as social distancing and the use of disposable face masks keeps the employee healthy and away from harm’s way. Healthcare is not the same as wellness. In our healthcare system, we focus on the causes, consequences, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases and injuries using a pathogenic and reactive approach.  

Wellness relates to the intention and actions of an individual. It comes with a prominent physical dimension and is always associated with a healthy lifestyle and choices.
